JA Nova Scotia announced today that Shannon Harding has been appointed the new President and CEO. An experienced and dedicated leader, Shannon will help grow volunteer, student and community engagement throughout Nova Scotia as JA Nova Scotia works to empower youth to find success in the real world.
“We are delighted to have Shannon join us and lead our team of dedicated staff to create a sustainable future for our Charter” said Paul Janes, JA Nova Scotia Board Chair.
Shannon was previously the Director of Education and Engagement at Clean Foundation overseeing numerous projects, including the successful YouCAN/TuPEUX initiative, which promotes environmental education and sustainability practices in schools across the region. Under Shannon’s leadership, Clean Foundation delivered electric transportation engagement, encouraging sustainable transportation options, as well as a group of clean energy and equity initiatives that aim to assist underrepresented communities and individuals in Nova Scotia grow and succeed in Nova Scotia’s clean energy sector.
Janes shared that the Board “looks forward to having Shannon inspire new and thoughtful ways to innovate financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship for Nova Scotia’s youth.”
Shannon is a recognised leader in the environmental community, having been awarded the Clean50 Thought and Education Leadership Award in 2019 for her contributions to sustainability in Canada. She is also a member, and former vice-chair, of the Canadian Network for Environmental Education and Communication and the TD Friends of the Environment Foundations Atlantic Board.
