Select the Volunteer Opportunity That Suits You.

In Class Volunteers: Facilitating programs to students in grade 5-12, engaging them to learn about financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship. Topics include learning to create a budget, developing long-term goals, understanding what it takes to run a successful business and learning about different types of investments and methods of payments.

Company Program Advisors: Mentoring students in the creation of their own business. This 18-week program requires weekly meetings where you will provide guidance, foster group engagement, keep it fun, and help youth develop self-confidence and self-belief.

Unique Opportunities: There are always opportunities to support JA in addition to delivering programs. Some of our unique volunteer opportunities include; special event guest speaker, Company Program executive training speaker or awards/trade-fair judge, supporting special JA projects.

Join our Board of Directors

The Board of Directors for JA Nova Scotia is recruiting new members. We are looking for people with an entrepreneurial spirit, fundraising knowledge and experience, and for members with legal and financial backgrounds. Even if you don’t have these skills but want to support financial literacy, workplace readiness and entrepreneur education, your application is welcomed. 

Terms

● Commitment to a 2-year term with up to two additional renewals

● Four quarterly Board Meetings○ Approximately 2 hours of preparation for the 1.5 hour meeting

● Participation on at least one Committee, meets quarterly○ Approximately 2 hours of preparation for and 1.5 hour meeting

● Additional meetings as necessary, such as the AGM

● Additional JANS events as able, such as Business Hall of Fame Gala, Laureate Breakfast, Awards Judging
