Volunteer

Why Volunteer with JA?

Our volunteers have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people. This is also your opportunity to develop and utilise your leadership, mentorship and public speaking skills. We will provide a full orientation, along with program training and material, as well as continued support so your volunteer experience is fun, engaging, and meaningful.

In recognition of our amazing volunteers we are pleased to share just a few stories here.

We have volunteer opportunities that will suit everyone.

In-Class Volunteers

Volunteers will be responsible to travel to the school and present a program module, working directly with the students. You will be facilitating program content (between 1 and 4 hours in length) to students in grades 3 to 12, engaging them to learn about financial health, work readiness or entrepreneurship. Here is your chance to share your knowledge and experience in topics such as creating a budget, developing long-term goals, determining your skills, what transferable skills are, understanding what it takes to run a successful business, and learning about different types of investments and methods of payments.

Virtual Classroom Volunteers

Volunteers will present a program module virtually to a classroom with the support of the teacher. You will be facilitating a program module to students in grades 3 to 12, engaging them to learn about financial health, work readiness or entrepreneurship. Here is your chance to share your knowledge and experience in topics such as creating a budget, developing long-term goals, determining your skills, what transferable skills are, understanding what it takes to run a successful business, and learning about different types of investments and methods of payments.

Company Program Advisors

As a JA Company Program Advisor, you will mentor high school students as they build and operate their own business, from developing a content and making decisions to marketing, selling, and managing their finances. Your skills and energy can make a direct difference, empowering youth people to build confidence, work as a team, and develop self-efficacy in their entrepreneurial abilities.

As a JA Company Program Advisor, you will provide guidance, foster group engagement, and help keep the experience fun and meaningful. Most importantly, you will help youth build self-confidence, self-belief, and the practical skills they need to see themselves as future leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

Company Program Advisors commit to working with students over the course of 18 weeks, preparing for each learning session and meeting with the team weekly. The total volunteer commitment is approximately 3 hours per week.
