World of Choices Events

JA Program

Program Description

To qualify for a World of Choices Event you must register and commit to the participation of at least 4 classes or 90 students. Registering for this program is your schools Expression of Interest and does not guarantee your school will be selected. Registrants will be contacted by October to confirm a fall/winter event.

Students learn from inspirational speakers and participate in small group discussions with passionate career mentors. Each event includes a feature on skilled trades opportunities.

Program Overview

Students completing this Program will be prepared to:

  • Recognize how transferable skills including communication, creativity, digital literacy, adaptability and financial health can enable career success
  • Explore potential career pathways including opportunities in skilled trades categories (construction, manufacturing, automotive, and more)
  • Be empowered to succeed in designing a career path
  • Discover educational and training opportunities

In-Person Events Features:

  • Pre-event resource material includes Transferable skills mini video modules and a package to showcase how to prepare for the day
  • Half-day in-person event includes a panel of skilled trades professionals, and round table discussions with career mentors
  • Post-event resource material includes access to the trades video library and information on future post secondary learning opportunities

BONUS: The Career Exploration Centre hosted the JA Campus bite-sized video page with all sorts of short-form videos to accelerate your journey towards financial literacy, work readiness or entrepreneurship.
