Program for Grades 8 to 11

The earlier youth learn financial literacy, the more likely they are to invest and save later in life.

JA’s Investment Strategies program (ISP) teaches students how to save and invest for the future. The program includes both interactive classroom lessons and an online stock market simulation, Invest JA, where students manage their own simulated stock portfolio. The simulation is linked to live data from North American stock markets and is an exciting, risk-free way for students to apply the investing principles they learn in the program.

  • Over 6 weeks students team up in small groups to build a stock portfolio and trade with a mock $100,000
  • Students gain hands-on trading experience buying and selling stocks on a live feed of the TSX, NASDAQ and NYSE during market hours

Quad 1

Teacher Orientation: Sept 16 at 4:00pm PT

Trial 1: Sept 23 – Sept 27

Game 1: Tuesday Oct 1 – Nov 1 Note: the simulation will start Tuesday as Monday is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

 

Quad 2

Teacher Orientation: Nov 18 at 4:00pm PT

Trial 2: Nov 25 – Nov 29

Game 2: Dec 2 – Jan 17

 

Quad 3

Teacher Orientation: Feb 10 at 4:00pm PT

Trial 3: Feb 18 – Feb 21 Note: the simulation will start Tuesday as Monday Family Day

Game 3: Feb 24 – Apr 4

 

Quad 4

Teacher Orientation: Apr 14 at 4:00pm PT

Trial 4: Apr 28 – May 2

Game 4: May 5 – June 6
