What years were you in Company Program?
I first joined the JA Company Program in Grade 9 (2019) and thoroughly enjoyed this experience. I was unable to participate in the online program the following year during the COVID lockdown but continued during my last two years of High School ending in Grade 12 (2023).
What are you doing now?
I recently completed my first year of a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary’s Sobey School of Business. I am thoroughly enjoying my university experience thus far and believe that my experience with the JA Company program helped further develop my love of business and desire to become an entrepreneur. This summer, I am working with JA Nova Scotia as a summer student, where I continue to develop my skills and experience into the business world. Working with the incredible JANS team has opened my eyes to various fields in business as well as all of the amazing work they do in Nova Scotia. Over the next few years, I hope to continue my involvement with this organization as well as exploring new opportunities through Saint Mary’s University.
What value did you get from Company Program?
I received many amazing experiences given to me through Junior Achievement Company Program. I have always had an entrepreneurial mindset, which grew throughout my involvement in Junior Achievement. The exposure to real-world experience, including creating and selling real products, developing pitches, and participating in competitions, assisted me in developing skills such as public speaking, collaboration, critical thinking, marketing and interpersonal skills. The Junior Achievement Company Program has assisted me to grow as a person and entrepreneur.
