What years did you participate in JA program

I started my JA journey in my grade 9 school year in October of 2011 with the Company Program. I had such a phenomenal time that I stayed in the company program until my Grade 12 year in 2015. During the course of those 4 years, I had the opportunity to support with other programs such as Economics for Success, where I could apply what I was learning from a teaching perspective. I also had the opportunity to attend two of the Next Generation Leaders forums in 2013 and 2014 which opened my eyes to many different experiences! Once I completed my schooling, I even returned to the Company program as an advisor in 2017 to nurture the next young entrepreneurs of JA.

What are you doing now

I have moved through many positions since my time with JA. I have completed my degree in Business Administration at St Francis Xavier University and found an excellent role as an Account Coordinator with Emmerson Packaging. I also have the opportunity to put the skills I have learned over the years to use with my own small business offering DJ and Karaoke services! Kruz’n Karaoke.

How did JA impact you

JA was an amazing opportunity to open my eyes to the brilliant ideas of other young entrepreneurs as well as the cultures that motivate our growth. I have made many amazing connections over the years with individuals I still speak to today.

Why get involved with JA

When I had first heard about the JA company program, I was unsure if it would be a good fit for me, but after being prompted to try attending a session I was hooked! What inspired me to stay was the connectedness of sharing ideas and bringing them to life with other individuals in the program and all of the great mentors we have met along the way. JA offers a strong chance to develop interpersonal and business skills in a way that builds confidence in the youths of tomorrow but also reminds us that everyone is trying their best.
